Tom Hardy’s resumé is filled with high-intensity scenes, from taking on Batman as Bane, to being a host for alien symbiote Venom and playing the titular role in post-apocalyptic movie “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Now, the blockbuster star can add martial arts champion to his list of action-packed accolades.

The 45-year-old English actor won gold at the 2022 UMAC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open Championships on Saturday after quietly entering the competition, organizers told CNN.

In a statement posted on his verified Instagram account this week, Hardy said: “Simple training, for me (as a hobby and a private love ) has been fundamentally key to further develop a deeper sense of inner resilience, calm and well being. I can’t stress the importance it has had and the impact on my life and my fellow team mates.”

Hardy said it was an honor to represent non-profit organization REORG, which works with veterans, active military and first responders to use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and fitness training as a form of therapy.

While bystanders and other competitors were left stunned when Hardy turned up at the school hall in Milton Keynes, England, organizers said he was simply “keeping his word.”

Bruce Willis has become the first major Hollywood star to license his likeness for deepfake usage through a company called Deepcake, which specializes in “AI solutions for video production.” In other words, Willis would now have a “digital twin.”

In a statement, Bruce Willis praised Deepcake. “I liked the precision with which my character turned out. It’s a mini-movie in my usual action-comedy genre. For me, it is a great opportunity to go back in time.”

The Die Hard actor is fully on board with such technological advances. Just last year, Bruce Willis appeared in a Russian commercial via deepfake tech. “With the advent of modern technology, even when I was on another continent, I was able to communicate, work and participate in the filming. It’s a very new and interesting experience, and I thank our entire team.”

Eric Roberts doesn’t hold the Guinness World Record for the most screen credits for a living actor. That honor goes to the Indian star Brahmanandam, currently with more than 1,170 titles to his name. But Roberts is quickly catching up. According to his (endlessly updating) IMDb page, he’s appeared in some 700 films and TV shows, making him the actor with the most screen credits in Hollywood working today. Last year alone, he starred in 33 films and there are currently 66 in various stages of production. Not that Roberts is counting (or even has the time to)...

Bei Kult-Regisseur Albert Pyun geht es leider wohl dem Ende zu...

Sadly, Pyun was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis several years ago… and it seems he is now in his final days. His wife Cynthia Curnan took to Facebook to ask fans to send in personal messages so she can read them to him. Curnan’s request for messages was then given a signal boost by a Sam Peckinpah fan page.

Curnan’s Facebook post can be found HERE. She said, “Albert took another downturn. I could tell he feared going down again. He was working too feverishly. I asked “What’s the rush?” He said “If I stop, that’s it.” … Please write a message to him for me to read. A personal message from you to him will make him really happy. They think he does not have much time left. Update: Albert wept happy and sad tears when listening to your messages for him. He feels terrible to have let you down. by failing to finish his last 2 movies. He wanted them to be a 6 part TV series. He worked and tried like a maniac; it was all that truly mattered to him. To Albert, failure has never been an option.“

The Hawaiian-born filmmaker began his career under the tutelage of Toshiro Mifune and carved a reputation for himself as a B-level action/sci-fi director who brought memorable visuals and endless imaginations to films that were usually filmed on very limited budgets.

Known primarily for his kickboxer/apocalyptic spectacles, Pyun was clearly a student of greats like Sergio Leone, John Woo, Akira Kurosawa, and Sam Peckinpah in the way that he staged his action scenes and often transformed them into surreal landscapes for his eccentric characters to inhabit. Additionally, consider some of the legendary actors with whom Albert Pyun has collaborated: Burt Reynolds, Jean Claude Van Damme, Charlie Sheen, Lance Henriksen, Ice T, Christopher Lambert, Ronny Cox, Darren McGavin – and Peckinpah alumni Kris Kristofferson, James Coburn, Rutger Hauer, and Dennis Hopper.

Albert’s wife Cynthia has been posting updates about his condition for a while now on her private page and has let us know that while he is in his final days, Albert would love to hear from fans. She’s given me permission to post this request here for my readers – and I’m asking you now to rise to the occasion. Albert has been ill for quite some time, but his love for cinema has kept him going; indeed, he has spent these twilight years of his life working tirelessly on new projects that he will never live to see completed. I think it would mean a hell of a lot if those of us here who love cinema could express some words of gratitude to a man who has spent his life in the field, fearlessly working against an often unforgiving industry to bring his artistic vision to the screen.
