The Toxic Avenger gilt als das Aushängeschild der Trash-Schmiede Troma. Nicht zuletzt wegen dem hohen Anteil an Gewalt, Sex und politisch unkorrektem Humor avancierte Toxie weltweit zum Hit und absoluten Kult.

Aktuell kusieren im Internet Meldungen, die wie ein verspäteter April-Scherz anmuten. Laut diesen Meldungen soll The Toxic Avenger in Form eines Remakes neu aufgelegt werden und wird als familienfreundliche PG-13 Actionkomödie konzipiert. Produziert wird das geplante Remake unter anderem vom niederländischen TV-Riesen Endemol.

Obs letztendlich wirklich zum PG-13 Remake kommt, werden wohl die kommenden Monate zeigen.

Also ein unverschämteres Remake als Toxic Avenger mit PG-13 gibt's ja wohl nicht. Irgendwo hört der Spaß auf.

Kann nur besser als das bisherige Zeugs werden - egal ob PG13 oder R! 8-)

Steve Pink, the man behind Hot Tub Time Machine, has come aboard the remake of The Toxic Avenger, reports Deadline. Pink will not only direct but will, alongside, Daniel C. Mitchell, provide the script.

The original film was set in Tromaville, New Jersey - a small American town, terrorized by criminals. Among the residents of Tromaville is Melvin, a nerdy emaciated janitor at the local health club. A gang of thugs devise a cruel hoax that goes horribly wrong as Melvin is cast through a third story window into a vat of hazardous toxic waste. However, an unexpected metamorphosis takes place. As the chemicals take hold of his body, Melvin turns into the Toxic Avenger, doer of good, and brutal mauler of evil.

Directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman, the original launched their company, Troma Entertainment with "Toxie" as their corporate mascot. The original The Toxic Avenger spawned three sequels and an animated series.

In development for some time, director Steve Pink's remake of The Toxic Avenger looks like it may be getting an unusual headliner. Although he won't play Toxie himself, Variety reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks for a leading role.

Loosely based on Lloyd Kaufman’s classic Troma franchise, THE TOXIC AVENGER is the tale of a high-school kid who gets dunked in a vat of toxic waste by a corrupt chemical company. He survives the ordeal with one major side effect: upon contact with toxic chemicals, he transforms into a monster with superhuman strength. Schwarzenegger would play "the Exterminator," a former black ops agent, who trains Toxie to use his powers for good. Together they take on the lurking menace created by the polluters, and the polluters themselves.

Arnie deutet ja auf Trash hin. Aber irgendwie auch auf Kot.

Ist Ansichtssache. Ich kann ihn einfach nicht ernst nehmen.

Naja wenigstens scheint er sich selbst nicht zu ernst zu nehmen, was ihn wieder sympathisch macht.

Was, wie? Wo fängt man sich sowas ein? Ist das ansteckend?

Elijah Wood als Edel-Troma-Variante des Pinguins? Why not.

Früher dachte man ja, dass er sich von seinem Hobbit-Image freispielen will. Inzwischen denke ich, dass er einfach weirdes und abwegiges Zeug gerne mag.

Der Troma Vibe ist da... aber anders als Filme aus jener Schmiede könnte der hier tatsächlich gut unterhaltsam sein.

Könnte unterhaltsam werden und Kevin Bacon ist immer ein guter Grund für eine Sichtung.
Allerdings MUSS dieser Hit wieder im Film unterkommen!
