Warner Bros. is developing a sequel to I Am Legend. Not only that, but original star Will Smith will be back and he’ll be joined by Michael B. Jordan. Both actors will also be producing the project alongside original screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, who will also be penning the sequel script.

Sprengte sich der Will am Ende von Teil eins nicht im Labor in die Luft? Und war der "I Am Legend" nicht bereits grottig?

Ist schon etwas her, aber der kam doch afair generell gut weg? Ansonsten gibts ja ein alternatives Ende meine ich mich zu erinnern und da ist Sonnenschein.

Wird wahrscheinlich so ne Story in der Art werden: Er wacht erschreckt auf und freut sich das er Teil 1 ja nur geträumt hat. Vor Aufregung aber bekommt er eine Herzattacke, wacht 3 Wochen später aus dem Koma auf und muss feststellen das überall um ihn herum nur noch Zombies auf der Erde sind, weil irgendein Virus, Pilz oder eine Invasion von Aliens in seiner Abwesenheit die ganze Menschheit vernichtet hat. Dann rennt er da durch die Stadt auf der Suche nach vielleicht noch anderen Überlebenden, freundet sich mit einem Hund oder kleinen Mädchen an, rettet einen von den Beiden das Leben, wird dabei aber gebissen und am Ende reitet das arme kleine Mädchen auf dem Hund der Sonne entgegen....
Tu ich mir nicht an so ne Zeitverschwendung und spiele stattdessen lieber Dying Light 2 weiter

Und bei mir kam der Film eindeutig nicht gut weg.

Ich mag den Film ausgesprochen gern. Ne Fortsetzung braucht es da aber echt nicht, und das sage ich als jemand, der Fortsetzungen generell positiv gegenüber steht.

Der Drehbuchautor berichtet u.a., dass das Sequel ans alternative Ende von Teil 1 - nicht ans veröffentlichte - anknüpfen wird...

“This will start a few decades later than the first. I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the Earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens? That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the Empire State Building, but the possibilities are endless. We trace back to the original Matheson book, and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film. What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.“

Will Smith has confirmed the sequel to his 2007 sci-fi film adaptation of Richard Matheson’s legendary work “I Am Legend” is still moving forward – and he has his co-star still onboard.
