Besson will work with Snoop Dogg on a new movie called The Last Man, which is described as a Planet of the Apes-inspired movie that “may be connected” to Dogg’s 2009 song “Last Man Standing." ... Snoop Dogg previously said he was working on a Planet of the Apes-inspired project and hinted that it may be “dogs instead of apes” when speaking to Variety last month. Besson’s involvement was not known at the time.

Besson wrote the screenplay for The Last Man. He also produces alongside Dogg, Sara Ramaker, and Virginie Besson-Silla. Production is expected to begin in 2025.
