Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, starring Sam Worthington and Christian Bale, began principal photography on May 5, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Halcyon Company Presentation of a Moritz Borman Production of a McG Film, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is directed by McG from a script by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. The film is being produced by Moritz Borman, Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek and Jeffrey Silver and executive produced by Peter D. Graves, Bahman Naraghi, Mario F. Kassar, Andrew G. Vajna, Joel B. Michaels, Dan Lin and Jeanne Allgood.
Warner Bros. Pictures is handling all U.S. and Canadian distribution rights for the film, with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling distribution rights in most international territories (excluding Korea and select Mideast territories).
In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins marks the latest installment of the multi-billion dollar "Terminator" franchise and will be the first film in a new "Terminator" trilogy. The film is scheduled for a North American theatrical release May 22, 2009. The Halcyon Company acquired all "Terminator" franchise rights in May 2007.
Principal photography is taking place at the Albuquerque Studios and on location throughout New Mexico.

James Middleton, the consulting producer on FOX's The Sarah Connor Chronicles spoke to IGN about the status of Terminator 4:

Middleton informed the site that us that Terminator 4 is happening with The Halcyon Company, who owns the franchise rights. It will be written by Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato, the same team that wrote Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. Halcyon would like to be in pre-production in October with an eye towards a 2009 release.

No director is signed yet for the sequel, which will not be called Terminator 4, but instead will use the title Terminator and have a subtitle, as in Rise of the Machines. It will follow the events of Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and be post-apocalyptic.

John Connor and Kate Brewster are in the script, although it is not known whether Nick Stahl and Claire Danes will return.The movie will feature a new hero as the main character. Middleton likened it to how "Ben-Hur was influenced by Jesus Christ, but it was his story. Much in that way, this character will be influenced by John Connor."

The plan is for this to be the first of three new movies, all of them set in this post-apocalyptic future and showing the war with the machines.

Warner Bros. has acquired North American distrib rights to "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," triggering an early 2008 production start for a film that seeks to reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-pic span.
WB plans to distribute "Terminator Salvation" in summer 2009.

The Warner deal dashes MGM's hopes of corralling distribution rights to the film. The Lion planned to pepper its slate with tentpoles such as "The Hobbit" and "Terminator," but neither project has worked out for the distributor.

Halcyon sued MGM in July in Los Angeles Superior Court, claming the distrib was interfering with its distribution plans on the fourth "Terminator" film on the basis of an MGM claim that it had acquired an exclusive 30-day negotiating window.

The "Terminator" pic franchise got a new lease on life in spring, when privately funded Halcyon and its co-CEOs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson teamed with "Terminator 3" exec producer Moritz Borman to acquire film, merchandising and licensing rights from ex-Carolco partners Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar. Kubicek, Anderson and Borman are producing the new film, with Peter D. Graves as exec producer.

"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins", der vierte Teil der "Terminator"-Filmreihe, soll im Sommer 2009 in die Kinos kommen und der Auftakt zu einer Trilogie sein.

Frag mal den StS, der hat die glaub ich nicht nur so gut wie alle gesehen, sondern auch noch besprochen.

Vince hat geschrieben:Furlong wäre nach wie vor am optimalsten. Seine Leistung in T2 ist zwar umstritten, aber den Rebellen nehme ich ihm ab, Stahl nicht mal ansatzweise. Bale wirkt mir als John Connor eigentlich ein bisschen zu abgeklärt, andererseits ist das je nachdem, wie weit Teil 4 nun in der Zukunft spielt, auch ganz gut so (der Mann muss ja später den Widerstand anführen).

Hauptsache eben, kein Stahl mehr.
