In a news conference today at Troublemaker Studios, several Texas state politicians were in attendance to sign HB 873, the long-awaited reform of the Texas film incentive program.
Rodriguez talked to the audience of press members and revealed his upcoming film slate.
"I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons."

I'm sure the boys over at Aint it Cool News can confirm this with Rodriguez when it's official, but Bloody-Disgusting is being told that NEIL MARSHALL is close to signing on to direct PREDATORS for 20th Century Fox. To be clear, the deal is NOT SIGNED just yet, but getting closer.

Das Konzept wird stark vom Original abweichen und auf einem Predator-Planeten angesiedelt sein, wie Rodriguez verriet: "Eine Gruppe strandet auf dem abgelegenen Planeten und sieht sich unvorstellbarem Grauen ausgeliefert - das jedoch nicht ausschließlich außerirdischen Ursprungs ist. Der Filmtitel hat also eine doppelte Bedeutung". Predator erschien 1987 und erzählt folgende Handlung: Der Elitesoldat Dutch Schaeffer (Schwarzenegger) wird mit seinem Kommando-Trupp in den südamerikanischen Dschungel geschickt, um dort abgestürzte Fliegerpiloten zu retten. Doch auf ihrem Weg durchs Dickicht lauern ihnen nicht nur Guerilliakämpfer auf, auch ein mordlüsternes Wesen aus dem Weltraum hat es auf die Soldaten abgesehen.

We went back and looked at the original. I actually worked in the shop with Stan Winston on the first film. It was great to be able to go back to the series having not been involved in any of the sequels, and it was also great to be able to make sure we built them as Stan Winston did." While Berger supervises "Dawn Treader" in Queensland, Nicotero perfects the ‘Predators’ back home in Los Angeles.

We told you it was coming and sure enough, Variety has announced the entire cast for Robert Rodriguez's Predators, which will be headlined by Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody (King Kong, The Pianist) as the mercenary Royce.
At the same time, The Hollywood Reporter's "Heat Vision Blog" is reporting that actor Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, "That '70s Show") is in negotiations to join Brody as Edwin, an accountant who is in fact a dangerous serial killer.
The rest of the multinational cast includes the aforementioned Danny Trejo and Walton Goggins from "The Shield" as well as Alice Braga (I Am Legend), Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("The 4400"), and Louiz Ozawa. The Variety story doesn't reveal which character all of them might be playing but you can get some idea by checking out Latino Review's preview.
Directed by Nimrod Antal, the Hungarian filmmaker behind Vacancy and the upcoming Screen Gems crime thriller Armored, the movie is about to start shooting on location in Hawaii and Rodriguez's Austin-based Troublemaker Studios.

Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.
Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
