Death Race 2 & 3 (DtV)

Beitrag von SFI » 12.08.2009, 14:41

The origins of the deadly, fuel-injected game at the center of Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race are going to be explored in an upcoming sequel.

Tony Giglio (Timber Falls, interview) has been hired to write a script, based on a story by Anderson, to be produced by Impact Pictures (Anderson and Jeremy Bolt's production outfit). Giglio may also direct. The script is said to delve into the past of the driver known as Frankenstein.

Created for Paul Bartel's original 1975 cult classic, Death Race 2000, Frankenstein was played by the late David Carradine. In the film, history said that his face was mangled by so many car wrecks he had to wear an intimidating mask. Carradine returned to Anderson's remake briefly to voice the new Frankenstein before he was replaced by Jason Statham's Jensen Ames.

Some more on that sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race that we broke the news about in August right here...

Universal has officially given Death Race 2 the green light based on Tony Giglio's script. The follow-up, a prequel looking into the past of the race car driver known as Frankenstein, will be developed for the DVD market.

The story is based on an idea by Anderson and a director is being sought. Giglio will not direct as previously reported; he's currently serving as a second unit director on Resident Evil: Afterlife which Anderson is at work on in Toronto.

Luke Goss Becomes the Original Frankenstein in 'Death Race 2'
Luke Goss will star in Universal Home Entertainment's s direct-to-DVD sequel to 2008's Death Race, reports Mobviehole.net. In director Roel Reiné's Death Race: Frankenstein Lives, Goss (Blade II, Hellboy II : The Golden Army) plays Luke, the young man that donned the 'Frankenstein' mask prior to Jensen Ames (Jason Statham's character in Paul W.S Anderson's Death Race). Newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most unredeemable of convicts, Carl 'Luke' Lucas must prove his mettle in a race to the death.

Casting News: ;)

"Sean Bean will co-star as Luke's old mob boss; Ving Rhames is the man responsible for giving the greenlight to the Death Race (he's apparently a "Rupert Murdoch" type); Danny Trejo is Luke's pal in prison and Frederick Koehler will reprise his role as "Lists."

Jip, armer Sean Bean.

In this installment, convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas, aka Frankenstein, is a superstar driver in the brutal prison yard demolition derby known as Death Race. Only one victory away from winning freedom for himself and his pit crew, Lucas is plunged into an all-new competition more vicious than anything he has experienced before. Pitted against his most ruthless adversaries ever, Lucas fights to keep himself and his team alive in a race in South Africa 's infernal Kalahari Desert. With powerful forces at work behind the scenes to ensure his defeat, will Lucas' determination to win at all costs mean the end of the road for him?

Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, Robin Shou, Fred Koelher, Dougray Scott and Hlubi Mboya also star.

Schaut nicht schlecht aus. Hoffentlich besser als der doofe 2. Teil.
