Steven Wilson hat übrigens schon wieder die Plattenfirma gewechselt und ist nun bei Friction Records (u.a. the Cure) unter Vertrag

Steven Wilson releases his eighth studio album, The Overview, on Fiction Records on 14th March 2025. The two track, forty-two-minute​ album is his most audacious to date, inspired by the “overview effect” experienced by astronauts looking back at the Earth from space.

The Overview sees Wilson return to expansive, progressive music, a genre he helped redefine and repopularise with both his solo and Porcupine Tree releases. The two wildly ambitious tracks are each made up of distinctive musical sections that flow from one to the other, playing out as unique and continuous pieces. Wilson’s 21st-century progressive music updates the classic ‘prog’ musical palette to incorporate everything from glistening electronics to post-rock and beyond, which brings the genre right into the beating heart of the current musical landscape.

The album also features a set of lyrics by XTC’s Andy Partridge that help drive the story in “Objects Outlive Us”.

The Overview is instantly recognisable as Steven Wilson and will stand alone as an utterly unique release for 2025. Headphones and a wide-open mind are recommended.

Das Mediabook mit den 3 CDs ist nach 24 Stunden im SW Store Sold out, bei Burning Shed ist es noch vorbestellbar. Bei Deutschen Händlern sieht es wohl düster aus, sowohl amazon als auch JFK haben das Teil nicht gelistet

Also ich konnte vor einer Stunde noch im Wilson-Shop bestellen.
Ist aber auch echt der einzige Musiker, bei dem ich so etwas noch mitmache. 100€ für eine Platte, ey...

Jetzt bei mir auch. Vielleicht hatte ich Glück und es ist nochmal zwischendurch ein kleines Kontingent freigeworden.
Bin aber mal gespannt, ob nicht doch noch etwas in Deutschland kommt. War beim letzten PT-Live-Album zumindest so.

das kam aber erst nach einigen Wochen, das Buch scheint i.M. UK exklusive zu sein. Bei JFK ist zB das Album noch gar nicht gelistet, bei amazon kann man i.M. nur den Download vorbestellen.

Tja, irgendwie muss man ja den Hunni rechtfertigen... es ist schon eine sehr fragwürdige Politik.

Der Preis für das Buch ist imo i.O. - mich ärgern eher die Portokosten....

Ich schrieb bereits schon einmal an anderer Stelle - beim Konzert von Riverside wo ich 2023 war machte M. Duda eine recht spitze Bemerkung zu dem Thema. Er sagte Sinngemäß das er geplannt hatte alle Riverside Alben als limitierte Bucheditionen mit CDs und Blu-Rays rauszubringen und diese dann exklusive über einen Store in UK zu verkaufen damit die Royal Mail auch noch was daran verdienen würde. Er hat dann das ganze gelassen weil er das seinen Fans außerhalb von UK reichlich unfair findet. Das war genau in der Woche wo Porcupine Tree ihr Live Album genauso vertrieben haben und ich bin mir ziemlich sicher das er genau darauf angespielt hat.

Ab irgendeinem Punkt lässt sich wohl jeder Künstler zu einem Geschäftsmann verhuren...

Jeder Künstler ist ein Geschäftsmann, lediglich die die ihre Kunst konsequent verschenken nehme ich davon aus.
