Silent Hill 2

In a French interview with Silent Hill director Christophe Gans at DVDRama, he says he may direct a sequel to the 2006 hit. There is a translation here which reads:
There will be a Silent Hill 2. [Roger] Avary returns after adapting the VG Driver.
Gans is happy because Silent Hill is one of the biggest horror success of 2006 in terme of box-office. He arrives 3rd after Saw 3 and an american haunting.
One of his goals for Silent Hill 2 is to correct mistakes he made with the 1st one which cost him a lot of energy. However, he wonders if he can truly come back for a 2nd movie because of Onimusha. He says that if he doesn't come back, producers agree with him that the 2nd movie should keep the visual aspect of the 1st one. There is no way they are bringing a whole new vision of the town's design. He doesn't want a hollywoodian movie. If he doesn't come back as a director, he strongly suggest an European (and even a French) one. He will however stay close to this movie.

Also darauf könnte ich nun wirklich verzichten, SILENT HILL war für mich doch eine sehr große Enttäuschung.

Der erste hat für meine Zwecke hervorragend funktioniert und der zweite wird es mit Gans an Bord wieder tun. Wünschenswert wäre eigentlich nur ein Austausch des Drehbuchautoren. Vielleicht sollte man alles auf eine Karte setzen und so durchgeknallt sein, eine 1:1-Adaption vom Videospiel "Silent Hill 2" zu wagen. Das wäre extrem riskant, könnte aber im "Sin City"-Sinne funktionieren - sofern man keinen Mainstream-Markt erreichen will.
Ich hätte also auch überhaupt nichts gegen eine europäische (französische?) Produktion.

Wünschenswert wäre eigentlich nur ein Austausch des Drehbuchautoren.

Das unterschreib´ich, da die meisten Schwächen des Originals, bekloppte Dialoge, der Sean Bean-Subplot, die ungeschickte Art der Auflösung, doch dem Drehbuch geschuldet sind. Und bitte keine nach ihrem Kind suchende Protagonistin mehr.
