Toller Regisseur. Man darf gespannt sein.If you’re looking for haunting, original horror films, look no further than Oz Perkins, son of latePsycho star Anthony Perkins. With I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and The Blackcoat’s Daughter under his belt, Perkins has quickly established himself as a visionary horror master, and he’s next directing an adaptation of an iconic Brothers Grimm tale.
Collider reports this week that Perkins has signed on to direct Gretel and Hansel for Orion Pictures and Automatik Entertainment, described as a faithful adaptation.
In the original tale, published in 1812, “Hansel and Gretel are a young brother and sister kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch living deep in the forest in a house constructed of cake, confectionery, candy, and many more delicious treats that are imaginable . The two children escape with their lives by outwitting her.”
The site notes that filming is expected to begin in Europe this coming Fall.
Rob Hayes wrote the film’s script. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister) and Fred Berger (La La Land) will produce.
