Campbell himself revealed the news exclusively in the latest issue of Empire where he not only gives us the sequel's title but reveals that it will be written and directed by Sam Raimi's hand-picked successor, Lee Cronin.
“We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next Evil Dead,” Campbell confirmed when asked if another film in the classic horror franchise was in the works. “It’s called EVIL DEAD NOW. Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole In The Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”

Der Regisseur ist interessant... aber herrje, hätten sie nicht einfach an das tolle Remake anschließen können, statt wieder eine andere Geschichte zu erzählen...

Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Alyssa Sutherland (TV’s The Mist and Vikings ) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Jungle), whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable. Sutherland and Sullivan will take the lead roles.
