Neuigkeiten aus dem Hause "Raw Feed"...

"The X-Files" exec producer John Shiban, "24" exec producer Tony Krantz and "Blair Witch" co-creator Daniel Myrick are teaming for a batch of movies with their Warner homevid label Raw Feed, according to Variety.
Trio will supervise and produce three pics, tentatively titled "Alice's Apartment," "Supermarket" and "Otis."
The three are overseeing the projects in what is an unusual model that brings creative heavyweights together to work collaboratively on a set of projects.
Team is in the process of hiring writers and could go into production as early as this summer.
Insiders said there's a possibility that Shiban could direct his movie; Myrick and Krantz likely will not.
While all three movies will combine elements of sci-fi, horror and thriller genres, "Alice's Apartment" is described as more of a thriller, "Supermarket" leans toward sci-fi and "Otis" has strong horror elements.
Goal is to eventually release about four movies per year on the Raw Feed label.
Trio originally signed on for three pics with Warners -- "Rest Stop," "Sublime" and "Believers" -- with each of the producers taking the lead on a different movie.
Shiban's pic, "Rest Stop," which he wrote and directed, is the biggest-selling homevid original in Warners history, according to the company.
Trio is in talks for "Rest Stop 2," which producers say may have a theatrical life.
And Krantz himself is directing the theatrical "American Voodoo."
As DVD sales of traditional theatricals cool off, homevid divisions at studios like Warners and Fox are looking to goose sales of homevid originals with new talent and higher production values.
"It's a completely different business model" (than a theatrical), Krantz said. "But if we keep our production costs down, it's a moneymaking proposition for everyone involved." There's also the possibility of TV airings, particularly overseas.
Warners has been promoting the Raw Feed movies in a number of venues; a trailer for "Sublime," for instance, ran on the "Blood Diamond" DVD.

Jaimie Alexander to Return in Raw Feed's 'Rest Stop 2'
It was announced a few months back that Warner Home Video's Raw Feed was already hard at work on a sequel to Rest Stop as it was a huge success as a direct-to-video feature. Moviehole.net caught up with director John Shiban who revealed more details on the second film, which will be developed into several sequels, Shiban ells the site that he’d like to try and get original star Jaimie Alexander involved again, “I’m going to try, yeah. This is how I see it – and this is the way I explained it to Warners – ‘remember Mad Max? and remember the Road Warrior? It was the same mythology and same character but it not only took it up a step, it took it in a different direction. I definitely want to bring back a number of the [original] people and keep the mythology going.

Raw Feed Begins Lensing 'Otis', Preps Two Others
Although the news is kinda old, there's a bit of fresh details in here. Warner Home Video has greenlit a second wave of "Raw Feed" fare. All three movies are being produced back to back for around $5 million each. Otis, a horror comedy starring Daniel Stern and Illeana Douglas, began lensing early this week and will be followed by Supermarket and Rest Stop 2. Read on for the full article:
The brisk pace, which harks back to that of serials pumped out under the old studio system, enables Raw Feed to save coin on sets and personnel. The model calls for 15-18 days of shooting for each film, followed by a three-week break for casting and pre-production of the next project, according to Variety.
"It's a blend between independent film and television," said producer Tony Krantz, who is helming "Otis."
Both Krantz and partner John Shiban have strong roots in TV -- Krantz is exec producer on "24," and Shiban served similar duties on "The X-Files" -- and Daniel Myrick, the third principal, co-created seat-of-the-pants indie project "The Blair Witch Project" and also has worked on TV fare.
The principals are producing each other's movies, then trading off directing honors.
"What we are doing is the equivalent of going into a second season," Krantz said.
The first two Raw Feed discs have doubled Warner's expectations, having shipped more than 1 million units combined; they are expected to become profitable when ancillary coin is added into the mix. For example, "Rest Stop," the first Raw Feed project, has been airing on the Sci Fi Channel.
"Our object from day one has been profitability over a reasonable period of time," said Jeff Baker, Warner Home Video senior VP and general manager for catalog. "We're on the way, which is why we decided to acquire more."
The arrangement gives Warner's vid division more say than it usually has over the process, from start to finish.
"Actually, it's been really exciting because we have greater control," Baker said.
He said the second wave of titles is being produced even more quickly than the first. And that, he said, is where their TV background comes in handy.
"We gravitated toward these three guys not only because they're talented but because they have a very deep background in TV," Baker said.
"Otis" has a bigger-name cast than the first three Raw Feed projects, and the producers have not yet determined if they will follow suit on "Supermarket" and "Rest Stop 2."

Actress and hottie Jaimie Alexander will NOT be returning as Nicole Carrow in Warner Raw Feed's REST STOP II, which begins lensing in Los Angeles later this month. But her character is still a major part of the story and will be recast for the role. Returning Iraqi War veteran Tom Hiltsheads off with his girlfriend, Marilyn Culver, and his best friend to discover what happened to his brother Jesse and his girlfriend Nicole, who disappeared a year ago. The terrible truth of what happened to Jesse and Nicole is about to repeat itself, as Tom, Marilyn and Jared run into the same bloodthirsty ghostly creatures - the Driver, father and mother - who have been plaguing luckless "sinners" on the Old Highway for decades.
