Staffel 5 wird komplett in Deutschland gedreht!

Showtime and Fox 21 Television Studios have announced today that season five of the Emmy and Golden Globe award winning series “Homeland” will shoot on location in Germany. Beginning production in early June at the famed Studio Babelsberg in Berlin, the series will become the first American television series to shoot a full season entirely in Germany.

“In its fourth season, ‘Homeland’ has brilliantly reinvented itself. It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of ‘The Affair,'” said Showtime President David Nevins when the series was first announced for renewal. “With thought-provoking, relevant and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week. We’re excited to see more from these complex shows in 2015.”

“Homeland” season five will pick-up two years after Carrie Mathison’s (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm. “Homeland’s” 12-episode season will premiere this fall on Showtime.

Serie endet mit Staffel 8

Die Hauptdarstellerin verriet am Mittwoch in einer Show, dass die kommende Staffel auch die letzte sein wird.

Derzeit strahlt der amerikanische Pay-TV-Sender Showtime die siebte Staffel von «Homeland» ► aus. Die achte Runde, die wohl 2019 auf die Fernsehschirme kommt, wird die Serie aber beenden, wie Hauptdarstellerin Claire Danes am Mittwoch in der «The Howard Stern Show» sagte. Der Sender Showtime äußerte sich diesbezüglich nicht. Die Serie wurde bereits im Jahr 2016 für zwei weitere Staffeln verlängert.

«Homeland» wurde für das amerikanische Fernsehen von Alex Gansa und Howard Gordon entwickelt und basiert auf der israelischen Serie «Prisoners of War» von Gideon Raff. Inzwischen konnte das Format acht Emmys und fünf Golden Globes gewinnen.

Die Serie erreichte ihren Höhepunkt mit der zweiten und dritten Staffel. Damals verfolgten über zwei Millionen Menschen die neuen Episoden. Mit der siebten Staffel kommt Showtime auf rund 1,20 Millionen Fernsehzuschauer

The final season of Homeland finds Carrie Mathison (Danes) recovering from months of brutal confinement in a Russian gulag. Her body is healing, but her memory remains fractured — which is a problem for Saul (Mandy Patinkin), now National Security Advisor to the newly ascendant President Warner (Emmy and Golden Globe winner Beau Bridges). The top priority of Warner’s young administration is an end to the “forever war” in Afghanistan, and Saul has been dispatched to engage the Taliban in peace negotiations. But Kabul teems with warlords and mercenaries, zealots and spies — and Saul needs the relationships and expertise that only his protégé can provide. Against medical advice, Saul asks Carrie to walk with him into the lion’s den — one last time.
