The Book of Boba Fett (Disney Plus)
'Chronicle' filmmaker Josh Trank directing 'Star Wars' spin-off
By Anthony Breznican on Jun 4, 2014 at 12:07PM, insidemovies.ew.com
While J.J. Abrams toils at Episode VII, launching a whole new trilogy of Star Wars films set three decades after the fall of the Empire and Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi, two other spin-off movies are also in the works.
High-level sources have previously told EW that one will be a story about young Han Solo, while the other will focus on the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Godzilla filmmaker Gareth Edwards is directing one, and now we know who will be handling the other — Chronicle director Josh Trank
We just don’t know who is doing which — or if the deal has been altered further, and we’ll be getting stories from totally new characters in the Star Wars universe.
What we do know: Edwards will be doing the first one, due in theater Dec. 16, 2016, and scripted by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli).
Trank will be busy for the foreseeable future tackling a new version of The Fantastic Four, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. That film hits theaters June 19th, 2015, and it seems unlikely Trank will be around for a sequel. His work on the next Star Wars spin-off would most likely begin right away, although no release date has been set.

Quelle: comingsoon.net“After a year of having the incredible honor of developing with the wonderful and talented people at Lucasfilm, I’m making a personal decision to move forward on a different path,” says an official statement from Trank. “I’ve put a tremendous amount of thought into this, and I know deep down in my heart that I want to pursue some original creative opportunities. That said, the Star Wars universe has always been one of my biggest influences, and I couldn’t be more excited to witness its future alongside my millions of fellow Star Wars fans. I want to thank my friends Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, Simon Kinberg, and everyone at Lucasfilm and Disney for the amazing opportunity to have been a part of this. May the Force be with you all.

20th Century Fox is happy with "Fantastic Four," but admits that there were plenty of bumps in the road, including the time Trank left his three dogs in an apartment that was rented for him during production. The dogs caused over $100,000 worth of damage and Trank wanted the production to pay for that, something Fox refused.
It was a similar situation on "Chronicle." Producers say that Trank is very talented, but doesn't have basic skills to work in a team environment, like being decisive or communicating.
The Second Star Wars Anthology Film is Reportedly a Boba Fett Movie!
Just days after word broke confirming that Chronicle and Fantastic Four helmer Josh Trank will not be directing the upcoming second Star Wars Anthology film comes word, via TheWrap, that the project will be a Boba Fett movie, centering on the fan-favorite intergalactic bounty hunter. Although the outlet uses the term “origin story,” we already saw the origins of young Boba Fett and how he lost his “father,” Jango Fett, in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Assuming this new report is accurate, it’s likely that the new film will update us on early Boba Fett adventures taking place somewhere between Attack of the Clones and The Empire Strikes Back.

Verspricht ja dann eine laaaaaange Regie-KarriereFantastic Four" producers revealed that Trank was "erratic" and "very isolated" while shooting the film. He didn't offer clear direction and often couldn't answer questions. Instead, he would go into hiding...

Vielleicht wird der Boba Fett durch den Film ja mal wirklich zu der Kultfigur, zu der ihn irgendwie alle machen... Potential für ne schöne Outlawgeschichte ist ja definitiv da.

Quelle: Latimes.com... Trank shared his side of what happened. "I knew that this was going to be questioned and it was going to come under skepticism as to why I left 'Star Wars,'" he said. "And it was hard. It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life. I want to do something original after ['Fantastic Four'], because I've been living under public scrutiny, as you've seen, for the last four years of my life and it's not healthy for me right now in my life. I want to do something that's below the radar." ...
