Fox Television is considering giving "X-Men" their own live-action TV series and is currently in talks with Marvel to get approval to do so.

"It's in negotiations," said Fox Entertainment chairman Gary Newman. "We're cautiously optimistic, we had a good meeting with them. That will not be on a fast track creatively. This is just the deal, now we have to find the creative."

The TV series will be written by Patrick McKay and JD Payne (Star Trek 3) and produced by "24" producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto. Newman added that he thinks the show won't be ready to air before the 2016-2017 TV season.
