James Garner verstorben

Als Westernstar in den 60er Jahren trumpfte James Garner gerne auf. Ganze Einmeterneunzig gab Hollywoods Leinwandheld in seiner Glanzzeit an. Nun ist der Schauspieler in Los Angeles im Alter von 86 Jahren verstorben, wie das Internetportal „tmz“ berichtet. Garner, Star der TV-Serien „Maverick“ und „Detektiv Rockford“ ist dem Image seiner zähen Western- und Krimihelden bis ins Alter treugeblieben.

Rückenbeschwerden und Arthritis, mehrere Knie- und Herzoperationen konnten den Schauspieler nicht in die Knie zwingen. Auch von einem Schlaganfall kurz nach seinem 80. Geburtstag erholte er sich wieder. Danach stand der für seine tiefe, raue Stimme bekannte Star wieder am Mikrofon, um einen Zeichentrickfilm zu vertonen....

Mit Panna Rittikrai ist heute die führende Kraft hinter dem neuen thailändischen Actionkino gestorben. Rittikrai hat beim Großteil der bekannteren Produktionen die Actionchoreographie übernommen, von ONG BAK bis zu CHOCOLATE, gelegentlich führte er auch Regie, z.B. beim unterhaltsamen Trash-Actioner BORN TO FIGHT. Zudem war er auch der Mentor von Tony Jaa.

Oh das ist sehr traurig. Er hat echt gute Filme gedreht und war ein klasse Choreographie. Das er der Mentor von Tony Jaa war wusste ich noch nicht sehr interessant.

Hab auch eine weitere traurige Nachricht.
Jungschauspielerin Skye McCole Bartusiak ist tot. Sie wurde nur 21 Jahre alt.

Sie wurde vor allem als Susan Martin aus Der Patriot mit Mel Gibson bekannt. Ich kenne sie auch noch aus TV Serie 24.

RIP Texas Chain Saw Massacre’s Marilyn Burns

Family members of actress Marilyn Burns have revealed that she has passed away at the age of 64. Cause of death is unknown, but she was found unresponsive in her Houston home yesterday.

Burns gained genre recognition and solidified her place as one of the ultimate “final girls” in Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a film celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. In that film, she played Sally Hardesty, a young woman who contends with Leatherface and his warped family.

Burns went on to appear in Hooper’s Eaten Alive, Future Kill and Butcher Boys.

Menahem Golan, Producer of 1980s Action Movies, Dies at 85

Legendary filmmaker Menahem Golan, co-founder of The Cannon Group production company and Israeli cinema pioneer, has died. He was 85.

According to multiple Israeli news outlets, Golan lost consciousness while strolling outside his house in the city of Jaffa with family members in the early hours of Friday evening. Ambulances rushed to the scene, and following attempts of more than an hour to resuscitate him, paramedics pronounced him dead.

With cousin and partner Yoram Globus, Golan ran Cannon Films for a decade, releasing more than a dozen films a year in its prime. They bought the ailing company, which was launched in 1967, for $500,000 in 1979 and fueled an appetite for B-films that was created by the invention of the VCR. For a time, Cannon was on the brink of becoming the seventh Hollywood “major” studio.

Nun bin ich aber total geschockt. Das ist ja echt eine traurige Nachricht. Ich habe seine Filme sehr gerne gesehen und Robin Williams war ein toller Schauspieler.

Actress Lauren Bacall Passes Away at 89

24 hours after the shocking news of Robin Williams' suicide, another acting great has passed away. Ms. Lauren Bacall, the Oscar-nominated actress who was a staple during the "Golden Age of Hollywood," suffered a massive stroke at her home and died on Tuesday morning.

Born in New York City in 1924, Bacall has been a mainstay in cinema, television and on stage for seventy years, her most recent work providing her voice for two disparate projects, the Oscar-nominated French-Belgian animated film Ernest & Celestine and Seth MacFarlane's "Family Guy."

Bacall may be best known among cinephiles for her work with her future husband Humphrey Bogart in movies like To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Dark Passage and Key Largo. Later, she'd be a part of all-star ensemble casts for Sex and the Single Girl (1964) and Murder on the Orient Express (1974).

Despite receiving only a single Oscar nomination for her supporting role in The Mirror Has Two Faces, Bacall received an honorary Oscar in 2010. She received many other accolades including a Golden Globe and SAG award (both for The Mirror Has Two Faces) as well as Career and Lifetime Achievement awards from the National Board of Review and the Broadcast Film Critics.
