Actress Amanda Peterson, best known for the 1987 romantic comedy Can't Buy Me Love, has died. She was 43. Her father told TMZ the actress was found it her Greeley, Colo., home on Sunday. Incredibly sad news as it’s being reported that “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has died at age 61. Piper, who was born Roderick George Toombs, passed away from natural causes in his home in Hollywood. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2006 but was declared free from cancer last November.

Piper was a wrestling icon in the WWE, having earned the WWF Intercontinental Championship as well as the World Tag Team Championship with Ric Flair. He was inducted in the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2005.

To us horror fans, Piper was most known for his role as John Nada in John Carpenter’s They Live, a role that would turn the phrase, “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass…and I’m all out of bubblegum,” into one of film’s most iconic lines. He was also Sam Hell in the cult classic Hell Comes To Frogtown, a film that I have thoroughly enjoyed for years.

We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and countless fans. He will be sorely missed.

“The Log Lady” Catherine Coulson (“Twin Peaks”) ist an Krebs gestorben.

Sad news hitting the social media world as it’s being announced that Catherine E. Coulson has passed away at age 71. No details have emerged regarding the reason of her passing. The news is coming from multiple sources online.

The news was apparently first announced by Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David Lynch. She stated, “Very sad to hear that Catherine E. Coulson passed away today. That was one hell of a spectacular woman. I’m grateful to have been a part of her.”

Coulson is most known to horror fans for her portrayal as Margaret Lanterman, aka “The Log Lady”, from “Twin Peaks“, the mysterious and often annoyed character who constantly kept a log cradled in her arms. Coulson reprised this role in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me as well as in the “Pysch” episode “Dual Spires”, which was an homage to “Twin Peaks” and featured many of the show’s stars.

Coulson was set to appear in the new season of “Twin Peaks”, which only recently started filming. How prevalent her role was meant to be or what this will do to production is unclear. (http://bloody-disgusting.com)

Fred Thompson, a Republican U.S. senator for eight years who also acted in feature films and on television, died Sunday, his family says in a statement. He was 73.

The statement says he died in Nashville after a recurrence of lymphoma. It added he was surrounded by his family.

"It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, father and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville," the statement added. "Fred was the same man on the floor of the Senate, the movie studio, or the town square of ... his home."

Thompson, a lawyer, alternated between politics and acting much of his adult life. Once regarded as a rising star in the Senate, he retired from the seat when his term expired in January 2003, saying he didn't "have the heart" for another term.

He was most widely recognized for his portrayal of D.A. Arthur Branch on the various Law & Order series, playing on them from 2002-07, before resigning to seek the Republican presidential nomination.

He played in several movies, usually playing gruff, powerful figures, including: Die Hard II, The Hunt for Red October, Days of Thunder, Thunderheart, In the Line of Fire, Cape Fear and Born Yesterday among them.

In the Senate, he held a number of high-ranking posts, including service on the Senate Finance Committee and the Government Affairs Committee. He was plain-spoken and an independent thinker: Along with John McCain, he was the only Republican to vote for the Feingold-McClain campaign reform bill.

Robert Loggia has passed away, according to his wife Audrey. He was 85 years old.

Loggia, an Oscar-nominated actor, has appeared in some of the most important and well known films of cinema, including Scarface, Big, Jagged Edge, and more. But it was his roles in Lost Highway, “Murder, She Wrote”, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, “The Outer Limits”, and Independence Day that many horror and thriller fans knew him from.

Loggia began acting in the early 50’s and never really stopped, working diligently and passionately until his passing. According to IMDb, there are still three movies yet to be released that feature him.

At 85, Loggia lived a long, rich life full of accomplishment and acclaim. While we are sad to hear of his passing, we thank him for all that he offered the entertainment industry over the years.

R.I.P. Angus Scrimm, the “Tall Man”, Dies at 89

Last year saw the passing of some of horror’s most iconic figures, such as Christopher Lee and Wes Craven. Now 2016 opens with the passing of another icon, the esteemed and mysterious Angus Scrimm. Perhaps best known for his portrayal as the “Tall Man” in Phantasm, Scrimm’s towering height and gaunt figure helped him create a terrifying villain, one that would become one of horror’s most recognizable figures.

Phantasm director Don Coscarelli beautifully wrote, “Angus Scrimm passed away peacefully tonight surrounded by his friends and loved ones. He was 89 years old. His performance as the Tall Man is a towering achievement in horror film history. He was the last in a long line of classic horror movie stars. Angus was a terrific actor and an even better friend. He will be missed.”

Scrimm will appear in Coscarelli’s fifth Phantasm film, which bears the subtitle Ravager. The film will be released later this year. Additionally, J.J. Abrams is hard at work creating a 4K restoration of the original Phantasm.

You lived a long, wonderful life, Mr. Scrimm. Thank you for everything. I hope you rest in peace.
