Sabrina the Teenage Witch is coming to Netflix. The streaming service announced today that it has put in a two-season order for the spinoff of the CW’s Riverdale.
Netflix’s Sabrina is described as “in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Fans of the 1996 Sabrina television series starring Melissa Joan Hart might find themselves thrown for a loop. The new series will reportedly be based on Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Robert Hack’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a supernatural horror series from Archie Comics’ horror imprint.
You didn’t know that Archie Comics had a horror imprint? Well, it all started with the comic that Chilling Adventures spun out of, Afterlife with Archie, a title that spoofed the company’s long-running Life with Archie series. Afterlife with Archie was a gore-filled story about what happened after Jughead begged Sabrina to raise his dog from the dead: a zombie plague unleashed on Riverdale.
Currently in its second season, Riverdale has been teasing the presence of Sabrina Spellman, the teenage sorceress, within the show, but she has yet to appear.

Clive Barker Contributed a Ton of Original Artwork That’ll Be Seen in “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”
Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly be more into this series.
In addition to achieving “master of horror” status as a writer/filmmaker, Clive Barker is also a prolific painter, and io9 informs us today that Barker’s original artwork will adorn the walls of the Academy of Unseen Arts in Netflix’s upcoming series, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”!
The site learned on their visit to the set that Barker “has contributed over 150 paintings to grace the walls of Greendale’s bewitching academy.”
“[Clive Barker and I] spoke about kind of the idea and the themes behind what we were doing here and he said, ‘Why don’t you come down, spend the weekend, take a look through all the artwork and pick out what you want?’”, production designer Lisa Soper explained to the site.
Nee... die alte Serie war kagge... aber ich mag "Riverdale", der Comic-Hintergrund hier ist interessant, die Hauptdarstellerin ist dufte, es gibt ne Clive-Barker-Connection und dieses Jahr hab ich zu Halloween keine neue "Stranger Things"-Staffel: Also jip... ich bin gespannt.
Die Hauptdarstellerin kenne ich nur aus Mad Men und da fand ich sie grauenvoll nervig, aber als Sabrina scheint sie zu passen. Auch vom Stoff her interessiert mich das null, das Produktionsdesign macht aber schon was her.

“We’re filming [Season 2] right now,” Shipka revealed to us.
“We went straight into the second season from the first and it’s been really so exceptionally fun to film, especially given the fact that I feel like we’re already in such a rhythm from coming out of the first season that to jump right into the second one was really, really fun and just a great opportunity to keep the momentum going. We definitely… Sabrina definitely changes and shifts a lot. Her growth is very evident and the second season definitely has a different spin on it than the first season. They’re very different from each other.”
Many of those differences will be apparent when you finish binge-watching season one.
“I would just say that, without giving too much away, because it would be a bit of a spoiler, the way that Sabrina’s life takes certain turns and certain decisions she makes inform the second season,” Shipka said. “The finale of the first season sets up a lot. It goes in a different direction. We see more different characters. It deals with a different side of things.”

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Gets a Special Christmas Episode
The new Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is getting a special festive episode just for the holidays, according to Vulture. The episode, titled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale will premiere on the streaming service on December 14. Netflix has ordered two more seasons of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” The streamer has ordered another 16 episodes of the series, which will be split into two parts like Season 1 and 2. Season 3 and 4 will begin production in 2019. Season 2 is set to premiere April 5, 2019.
