Mel Gibson still hopes to make Lethal Weapon 5, says the script is better than the other films and has revealed some of the plot details:

It only harks back to the others in the minimal way, but it’s a story all on its own. The characters are quite different. They’re older. One’s retired. The other one’s on a desk job. He’s putting on too much weight, and it’s low-tech. It doesn’t get into the big explosions and all this sort of stuff. But it still has the energy and, I think, drive of a big action film. Like, let’s say for instance, Apocalypto. It’s a foot chase, right? But it’s kind of filmed like a car chase. So it still has all the elements of what was in the other films, but not nearly so complicated. But it deals more about the people in it.”

Angesichts von Mels letzten Filmen: lieber nicht.

Wobei ich es im Forum, glaube ich, schon 357 Mal gesagt habe: Wie soll da ein ansatzweise guter oder würdiger Film rauskommen, bald 40 Jahre nach dem Original, in dem zumindest Murtaugh schon "zu alt für den Scheiß" war? Und ich will keinen Renterkrimi, mit Verfolgungsjagden zwischen Rollator und AOK-Chopper als "altersgerechter" Action.

würde ich auch als Hauptaspekt sehen, dass der nicht mehr kommen wird - sehr schade, man hat einfach zu lange gewartet. Allerdings vermisse ich die echten Silver-Geschosse aus dem Hause Silver Pictures sehr. Nicht alle neueren Filme von ihm sind schlecht, aber sie sind nicht mehr das gleiche wie damals.
