In an interview with Eddie Trunk, Portnoy stated that the album would be around 75 minutes and consist of four epics and two singles.

Der AA-Zyklus wird auf der neuen DT-Platte mit den Stück "The Shattered Fortress" beendet werden.

Da seit Beginn des Zyklus mit dem grandiosen "The Glass Prison" die Idee existiert, dass bei der Tour mit dem finalen Stück der komplette Zyklus live dageboten wird, geht man in Fan-Kreisen davon aus, dass Portnoy & Co diesen Sommer die komplette "Alcoholics Anonymous-Suite" live in der Setlist haben werden:

Konkret heißt das:
- The Glass Prison (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence)
- This Dying Soul (Train of Thought)
- The Root of All Evil (Octavarium)
- Repentance (Systematic Chaos)
- The Shattered Fortress

Progressive Nation Tour coming to Europe!

New York progressive metal veterans DREAM THEATER will take their Progressive Nation tour overseas for the first time with a run through Europe throughout September, October and November 2009.

Progressive Nation founder and mastermind, DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy, once again hand-picked the bands based on musicianship, originality and diversity… not necessarily by popularity and marquee value. He comments: "After the excitement of putting together two very cool Progressive Nation packages for North America, I knew it was time to bring the concept overseas and share some of these other great bands with our amazing fans throughout Europe."

Joining the tour will be DREAM THEATER's tourmates from Progressive Nation 2008 (and Roadrunner Records labelmates), the legendary OPETH from Stockholm, Sweden. Vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt is excited to partake in another Progressive Nation experience: "Once my man, 'The Port,' suggested they're going to bring Progressive Nation over to Europe, I more or less begged him to get us on it, haha! We had such a great time doing it in North America and it did many great things for us as a band. It's fair to say that I can't wait to get going with this one. It will be a blast, believe me!!"

Gerücht: Dream Theater, Tool, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Meshuggah, Mastodon, Cynic uvm. in einem einmaligen Event in London?

Dream Theater will perform a one-off version of their Progressive Nation tour in the UK, expanding it into a 2 Stage extravaganza, over one day at the 02 Arena. The running order is as such:

The show will contain several exclusive appearances from several bands. This is Tool's only other show this year apart from the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Illinois. It will also mark the start of a small European tour by King Crimson with dates in Berlin, Paris and Moscow. It will also mark special one-off European appearances from Van Der Graaf Generator, The Flower Kings and Shadow Gallery. It will also be the only Progressive Nation date outside of North America, with the support bands from the North American leg, Zappa Plays Zappa, Beardfish and Pain of Salvation, all appearing at this concert.

This show is an all-day show, with each band getting at least 45 minutes, and Dream Theater and King Crimson getting 2 Hour sets. Mike Portnoy had this to say on the concert:

"We wanted to extend the Progressive Nation format outside of America, in the form of something really special. Britain has always held a special place in Dream Theater's heart and it made perfect sense to hold it in London. We used the near-incestous nature of the Prog Metal scene to rally up bands such as Opeth, Tool and Meshuggah, who had performed with each other, but never at the same occasion, and put on a great bash showing what Progressive Music is, and incorporate it into a real occasion! This is going to be a throw-back to the days of Yes and Genesis, where they would have great bills over several hours showcasing some of the most amazing progressive talent around. On September 12th, the United Kingdom will definitely become a TRUE Progressive Nation!"

Dream Theater are scheduled to play the Download Festival, along with Opeth and Meshuggah, as well as headlining two warm-up dates in Leeds and Southampton on the 12th and 13th of June. Their new album "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" is due to hit the shops on June 23rd.

Aus dem Musiker-Board:

ich hör grad die Promo vom neuen Album "Black Clouds And Silver Linings" und dachte mir ich geb hier mal ein (schnelles) Fazit ab:
ich find die Scheibe hammer-gut. Sehr schöne, sehr lange Songs mit vertrackten Struckturen, großartigen Solos und (bis auf eine Aunahme) sehr viel Power. Für meinen Geschmack würde ich auf die Schnelle mal sagen, dass das das beste Album seit "Images And Words" ist.
Freut euch drauf, Prog-Heads...

Aber so grundsätzlich würd ich mal sagen, dann bestell ich jetzt schnell mal ne Karte und wäre dann dabei! Ich würd auch sonst keinen mehr mitnehmen, denk ich mal. Ist halt mitten in der Woche, die arbeitende Bevölkerung kann da eh net, du hättest dann nur mich als Ballast geladen. ;)

Normal würde ich über Köln fahren, aber die Aachen-Route läge auch noch im Bereich des Möglichen (30km mehr pro Strecke). Kannst ja mal gucken, wenn du irgendwie in die Kölner Kante kommen kannst, laden wir dich da ein, ansonsten fahren wir halt den kleinen Umweg.
