Ryan Gosling is heading back to space and Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are slated to direct and produce a film adaptation of "The Martian" author Andy Weir's upcoming novel for MGM. The as-yet-untitled novel is being referred to as "Project Hail Mary" and is said to tell the solitary tale of an astronaut on a space ship who is tasked with saving the planet. The novel is slated to be published in the spring of 2021.

Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher-turned-astronaut who wakes up from a coma, alone, on a space station with no memory of who he is or his mission. His memory returns in bursts and he pieces together that he was sent to the Tau Ceti solar system, 12 light-years from Earth, to reverse the impact of a space event that had already hurled our planet into the early stages of an Ice Age. As details of the mission unravel, he must call on all of his scientific training and sheer ingenuity, but he might not have to do it alone…

Bin ich am Start, wenn der Streifen am 20.03.2026 in die Kinos kommt. Allerdings kommt das Ding via MGM, also vielleicht auch nix Kino.

Die Prämisse ist freilich steil, die infantilen Humorversuche weniger. Auch ziemlich dumm wie Wissenschaftler mal wieder optisch gesehen werden.
